The International Rotary organisation enables business and
professional leaders worldwide to unite and help serve others. The Rotary Club
of Hemel Hempstead and the Rotary Club of Exeter Southernhay are two typical
active clubs.
Both clubs want to use the web to publicise their
activities and events, and also to enhance communication within the club. They
have no authoring or programming skills and no budget to employ a web designer.
They created their website using an online web site creator. The website is a
great medium for the Rotary club of Hemel Hempstead to tell the world what they
are doing, but they wanted to use their website as proactively as possible.
Using the Membership Manager they can provide members with an easy to use
source of information about each other. The club officers can upload private
documents into a secure area, from where members can have access to them.
Members can also register to attend events.

Example 1 A business that maintains a customer database and
wants to provide files, such as instruction manuals, product documents etc. to
registered customers only.
This business could also considerably reduce
the burden of maintaining accurate customer records by enabling their customers
to do it themselves from their member area. This promotes additional customer
loyalty as the customer feels that they have been provided with something
specific to them and it helps build a more personal relationship between
business and customer.
Example 2 A company that wants to sell
premium content to its customers/members. The company would receive the
customer details from which they process the payment. Upon verification that
the payment was received the company would approve the customer enabling them
to go into a passworded member area to access the content and data.
